As reliability engineers, a primary component of our practice is reliability data analytics. Reliability data analytics requires data - quality data. We will describe the Who, What, When, Where, How, and most importantly the Why behind compiling quality equipment history data and how to deliver that message to our shop floor personnel. We will discuss some examples of successful and unsuccessful attempts to improve our equipment history data quality at Dow Chemical. This topic aligns directly with SMRP Body of Knowledge, Pillar 5 – Work Management (specifically 5.6, 5.7, 5.10), but also has direct impact on Pillar 3 – Equipment Reliability (specifically 3.4, 3.5, and 3.6).
