Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) have a design, construction, and validation process to determine the level of safety required; however, IEC 61511 states that the performance of SISs must include detection over the entire life cycle, given the influence of operating and maintenance conditions on the equipment. This last aspect has been explored very little at companies, which is why their detection and validation have weaknesses. Some organizations that have detection only work with lagging indicators at the level of operational execution, so they have little capacity for a timely response to the need to prevent deviations at the level of safety that is required. This work proposes an array of leading and lagging indicators for the early detection of deviations in management until validation of the objective indicator (LIS).
